Alternative Living

It has always been the American dream to own a home. This has been the case for decades, made a precedent by those that came out west in search of new land. People have worked very hard to be able to have the dream, and with the crash of the real estate market, and with the fall of the sub prime lending market, this dream has been more difficult to obtain. This has led to a rethinking of living arrangements and places to live in. This means that people are starting to look at apartment living, condos, and duplexes in a way that could mean a permanent residence. There are many perks to this way of thinking in that it is more cost effective because the rent usually includes all the utilities, maintenance costs, and there are no more worries of dealing with insurance, taxes, or fees to make sure the roof stays waterproof.

Some experts believe that the housing market is not done declining, and have suggested that buyers wait a little more time in order to save more money on their purchases. This way people are able to get the absolute best deal on their new homes. Renting is now the way to go for most who have either lost their homes, or is trying to save up to one day buy their own home. This renting trend has resulted in more apartments being built in nicer areas to give people a wider range of choices on where they want to live. Instead of homeowners being eligible for a specific zip code or school district, residents in apartments, condos, and duplexes are now provided those options.

Some places have long time residents that have understood the benefits of this alternative living arrangement and have been in apartments their whole lives. This has afforded them the extra money to have a nice quality of life without the threat of losing their home, or being stuck without the money to make certain repairs.
